Handicraft activities

We plan to hold typical Hungarian folkart activities held by students and teachers of the school and parents. We offer simple, easy-learnable and spectacular activities every weekday morning.

Felting: our ancients used to make their tents, some of their clothes, jewells and trinkets of wool by felting. The technics of felting can be learned easily, both children and adults find pleasure in this work.

Bone-lace making: in the old times notabilities used to ornament their clothes by laces which can be home- made, too. Bone-lace making however takes much patience and skilfulness, some of the mothers will surely take their time pleasantly with this activity.

Pearl binding: mostly children like tinkering with small pearls : colourful jewels, small animals and ornaments are made.

Fretwork: a masculine activity, but girls also like to make fragrant and pleasant folk toys from valuable trees of the Bükk.

Loaming: in this popular activity everybody can make his own clay wistle (?) which is a typical Hungarian musical instument.

Needlework: clothes and table covers decorated by typical Hungarian folkart patterns becoming more and more popular in Hungary. We get to know some needlework techniques.
